Clients are always asking me about SEO. They want to know what it is, how it works, and what they need to do. What I tell them is that SEO comprises of three main components: content, code, and inbound links.
Content is still King not so much because great content creates sticky sites, but because great content does more to help your search engine rankings than many of the other tactics that SEOs use. Knowledgeable SEOs must first and foremost be great writers who can encorporate the right ratio of keywords within your content.
The way your site is coded can have dramatic results when it comes to your organic positioning. Make sure your designer knows what this means. If your web design and development company knows what they are doing, they will know how code effects your SER (search engine ranking). Your site should also be optimized, but that can sometimes have less of an effect on your SER than the structure of the code itself.
Inbound links are perhaps the most time-consuming and troublesome of the three keys to great organic SER. Don’t clutter your site with unrelated links that you trade with just anyone. Trading links does not have nearly the effect that inbound links do. Save your energy by increasing links.
If you spend your time and energy on these three core tactics, you’ll definitely increase your ranking. And the beauty of it is that these techniques only improve the stickiness of your site, the performance, and your reputation as an expert in your industry.

High Pagerank - SEO
Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »
The best SEO practices used to increase your search engine rankings may seem daunting, so you have probably avoided using this powerful system on your website. A site ranked high is assured of more visitors and subsequently more sales. If you have been looking for a way to kick-start your internet business it is imperative to begin working on this immediately.
Most people looking for goods and services online find websites through search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN and a few others. Optimizing your web pages for high search engine rankings is to attract targeted prospects to your website. This will increase the chances of these prospects of becoming customers. Your goal should be to have your web pages show up as high on the search results as possible, because this will provide an increase in traffic.
How do I optimize my website?
Title Bar - is on your homepage and it is the colored bar at the top of the page.
To increase search engine rankings, the words on your title bar should include the most important keywords or phrases, one of which would include your business name. This should also be done on the other pages as well. The keywords or phrases relating to the information on the page should match up perfectly.
Side note - avoid very long strings of keywords by keeping them to six words or less.
Also, keep away from excessive keyword duplication in the title bar, and make sure that identical words are not next to each other. The copy on the page should have the keywords spaced out as long as it does not affect the information negatively.
Content - search engines mostly list sites that contain quality content rather than snazzy graphics. The text on your site must contain the most significant keywords - the words that potential customers will be entering into search engines that will lead to your website.
250 words on each page should be the minimum unless design of your site works better with less. 100 carefully chosen words would probably be enough, but it must be totally keyword enhanced without overdoing it.
Side note - search engines must be able to read the text, so the text must be in HTML and not graphic format.
Meta Tags - is simple code that does not have the power some people believe, but it is worth adding them because some search engines may use meta tags in their ranking method.
Side note - to find out if your web pages are set up with meta tags, you must access the code by doing the following:
- click the “view” button on the browser menu bar
- select “source.” (this will pull up a window revealing the underlying code that created the page)
- if there are meta tags, they usually appear near the top of the window
- a meta tag would read: meta name=”keywords” content=
If you do not find code that reads like this, ask your webmaster to put them in. This may not do much for your search engine rankings, but any little boost helps.
Link Popularity - this is an extremely important factor based on search engine rankings. Almost all search engines use link popularity to rank a website. Link popularity is based on the quality of sites linked to from the links page.
Side note - if you want to find out what sites are linked to your site you will find some great tools online by searching the term “free link popularity check” and once you find out the negative or positive impact those sites may have on yours then you can respond accordingly. If you have a lack of or low quality links you should highly consider a link popularity campaign immediately by doing the following:
- contact quality sites and request they exchange links with your site
- checking out the rankings of the websites you want to link up with
- link to popular and quality sites
This will not only elevate your search engine rankings, but it will also bring more quality traffic to your website.
Search engine rankings are extremely important for a successful online marketing campaign. By review the information above and performing these best SEO practices you should be able to make major strides in bringing more quality prospects to your web pages.

Like the universe, the internet is vast and ever expanding. It doesn’t take much to get overwhelmed or worse lost and end up in a bad neighborhood. So how does one find interesting websites to visit without the drama of getting mugged by spam? Well in the same places that webmasters go to advertise them.
The links pages of your favorite websites
If you already have a few places that you visit look around those sites for a links page. Most webmasters are web surfers too and many will list their favorite finds either on the sidebar of their blog or on a page dedicated to linkage. Chances are, if you like their site, then you may like what they pick out. Beware, however, of links labels “Sponsored Links”. Those are ads and clicking on them may lead you to a spam site.
Also check out the site’s comment section and guest book. Other visitors to the site will often leave a link to their site along with a note to the owner. Depending on the site and the webmaster’s tolerance level, you may run into spam but sometimes you also hit pay dirt.
Directories
Directories attempt to put the web into some semblance of order which makes them a great place to find websites according to your interest. Sites are organized by topic and/or world location. The biggest of these directories is the Open Directory Project run by DMOZ. This directory launched in 1998 and has become host to over 4 millions links to websites through out the web community.
The most notable thing about ODP is that it is human edited which means that a human verifies and approves each submission to filter out the spam. Make sure that any directory you choose is also human edited or you may find yourself winning a gold medal in spam surfing.
Some other notable web directories include Best of the Web, WWW Virtual Library, Yahoo Directory and Starting Point Directory.
Traffic Exchange Sites
These sites specialize in traffic exchange. Webmasters sign up their site which then gets put into a database similar to a directory. They then earn credits by visiting other websites listed in the database. If you are feeling adventurous, this is a great way to find new websites of interest. Like the ODP, most traffic exchange programs have editors that approve submissions, however, you will still run into spam sites every once in awhile. Some also allow adult content so if you are offended by that, you need to make sure you have your filter settings configured appropriately.
Probably the largest of these, to my knowledge, is Blogexplosion. Other traffic exchange sites include BlogAdvance, TrafficG and BlogSoldier.
Social Bookmarking Sites
Web 2.0 is all about sharing and, as such, social bookmarking sites are all the rage these days. Social bookmarking is where members find interesting websites, articles, games etc and submit them (or Bookmark them) for community review.
There are two kinds of bookmarking sites, browser based and community based. A browser based bookmarking site such as StumbleUpon, puts code into your web browser so all you have to do is click next and you will be taken to a random page in the site’s database. Community based is where members manually submit links. In most social bookmarking sites, members can vote on and discuss the links submitted making them great places to find both interesting sites and interesting friends.
A few popular bookmarking sites include StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit and del.icio.us.
Web Portals
Web portals are websites that often serve as pathways to other content and personalized services. Unless you changed your homepage, when you first log onto the internet, chances are the first page that comes up is your Internet Service Providers web portal. Some other popular web portals are Yahoo, Google and MSN.
These portals often aggregate news from various sources all over the internet and some have a directory of content that you can add to your personal homepage. Because I use several of Google’s services, it was a natural step for me to create a personalize homepage that allows me to access those services when I sign in. It’s nice to have everything in one place and the content coming to me rather than clicking all over the internet in search of it.
Signing up for a personal portal page often requires that you sign up for or with an email address. This is how they keep track of your personalized options.
Forum Signatures
Forums are the equivalent of your grandmother’s sewing circle. People come together in one place to discuss common interests or, more often than not, just to gossip. Most forum members operate websites and blogs and will advertise them via a link in the signature section of their posts. How much spam you come into contact with is directly proportional to the type of forum you join. Webmaster type forums seem to attract spammers like crazy whereas Susan’s Sewing Circle will mostly likely contain only like minded forum members.
Search Engines
A game I like to play sometimes is to type a random word into the search engines and see what comes up. I’ve run into some of the best sites doing this. Even if you are searching for something specific, don’t be afraid to wander through all the pages that come up. You may be surprised at what you find.
Happy hunting!

If you have a business, big or small you may be thinking of getting yourself a website.
The world wide web is another way of spreading your message or selling your product.
First you need to find somebody or a company to build and design your website. Some web designers charge a huge amount of money so it is quite difficult to make the right choice.
One area you could try first is online auction websites such as ebay. There may well be a new company who is just starting out and who are looking at building up a portfolio. They may well at this early stage be offering their services quite cheaply. This method also applys to web promotion and optimisation/optimization.
Alternativerly I advise people to look into the yellow pages, look on the internet or ask family and friends if they know of anybody.
You are normally able to find somebody who will do a very good job and will design you a professional looking website at an affordable price.
Always look at the portfolio page and have a look at the websites they have already built. It might be worth seeing what the page rank of these websites are like and you are also looking to see if you like the style.
Once the web designer has built your website ask them if they would add a link from their homepage to your new website. Also ask them if they would submit the site to all of the search engines.

The Holy Grail of Website Design
Search Engine Optimization has become the holy grail of website design. There are an endless number of articles available on the Web, citing numerous tips and tricks on how to maximize your search engine profile. I find this never-ending game of catch-up with search engine programmers to be a futile exercise as it often leads to the corruption of your website content.
There is no argument that driving traffic to your website is critical and as such SEO is important. What is as important and I would argue, more important, is delivering your marketing message to those prospects that come to your site. Attracting thousands of visitors who really aren’t interested in what you have to offer is counter-productive if attracting those visitors cost you money or has caused you to bury your core value proposition.
An Alternative Multi-layered Website Design Strategy
There is an alternative multi-layered website design strategy that will deliver your content in a variety of ways meeting the needs of a Web-audience with varying degrees of attention and interest, while at the same time remaining search-engine friendly and compatible with most commonly employed SEO practices.
The core objective, stated or unstated, of business websites is to deliver your marketing message in an easy-to-find, understandable, memorable way that compels your prospect to answer your call to action. With these goals in mind we can construct an effective information architecture that presents your content in a way that converts prospects into customers.
Finding What You Want Fast - Bulleted Points
As I have often preached, Web-visitors judge the quality of your website by the ease with which they are able to find the information they came to find. I have also repeatedly reminded anyone who listens that Web-audiences just don’t have the time, patience or inclination to read most Web-copy.
These factors make it clear that when constructing the written portion of your website, you should make sure you make ample use of
1. bulleted points
2. numbered lists
3. headlines and subheads, and
4. captions.
Understanding What You Need to Know - Extensive Articles
There is a caveat to this elemental approach to presentation, and that is you cannot rely only on point-form presentation to communicate sophisticated ideas; you must add supplemental information for those who need and want all the details, and for search engines that seek-out and index fertile keyword-laden content.
The point-form style is designed to give Web-visitors a quick overview of who you are and what you do; it tells them they are where they need to be to solve their problem, and it provides them with the basic information they need to retain their attention. But if you want to close the deal - turn prospects into customers - you need to give your audience more. Link your bulleted items to extended content presented in article format. These informative articles should be easy to read and comprehend. Leave out the sales hype and concentrate on the values you offer that benefits your potential clients.
Anecdotes & Name Dropping Gets Noticed
When you write these articles, or have them written for you by a professional, make liberal use of anecdotes and name-dropping. These stories and references will get indexed by search engines and Web-users will find your content serendipitously.
One of my favorite stories about the lack of communication, one that I used in an article entitled, “The Brand Story - A Tale Worth Telling,” was taken from a great book, “Information Anxiety,” written by Richard Saul Wurman, who retells the anecdote of a woman seeking a divorce from her husband as told by U.S. Representative Pat Swindall of Georgia. Much to my surprise when I checked the logs for people reading my article, I found many discovered it accidentally by searching for the congressman. This phenomenon was repeated in other articles, whenever I discussed audio voice characteristics using examples of popular personalities like Chris Rock, Dennis Leary, and Sidney Greenstreet, or when I discussed the Web as a conversation environment as presented by Christopher Locke, Rick Levine, Doc Searle, and David Weinberger in their provocative book, “The Cluetrain Manifesto.”
In the above paragraph alone I’ve made reference to nine personalities, two well- know books, and an article of my own, all of which will get indexed by the search engines and get found by someone, thereby driving traffic to my content.
Getting Heard Means Making An Impression
So now that you have constructed a website that gives visitors the information they need quickly and easily; and we have supplemented that initial content with detailed keyword-laden articles filled with reader-friendly stories and search-engine friendly references; we are ready to add the final touch - the compelling deliver of your marketing message.
What Makes Your Marketing Message Compelling?
As much as we would like to believe we are rational beings making decisions strictly on logic, argument, and evidence - it is just not the case. We buy things from people we like, not necessarily from people providing the best solution, and we purchase products and services we want, not necessarily things we need.
As Malcolm Gladwell pointed out in his best selling book, “The Tipping Point,” the doctors who get sued for malpractice are not necessarily the lousy doctors, but the doctors who don’t spend enough time talking to their patients. What we learn from this is that we cannot ignore the human factor in making a marketing message compelling, and the best way I know to humanize your website is with the sound of the human voice.
A professionally delivered audio message delivered by an appropriate signature voice not only delivers your message in a compelling, easy to comprehend manner, but it also embeds that message in your prospects mind.
Getting What You Really Want
We all want more traffic to our websites, but in the process of attracting that traffic, we cannot forget our more profound goal: more customers, more sales, more revenue, and we cannot achieve that goal unless we deliver a meaningful, memorable message that turns prospects into customers.

There are things to consider if your ultimate goal is to optimize your website. Some of these are:
1. File size - Always be reminded that web pages of a particular website should be light in terms of file size. It would be hard for search engine spiders to categorize an overly heavy web page filled with HTML “junk text”.
2. Content - An extremely readable content is an important key to remember in order to create a rich content code that will help in optimizing the content of any web page. Always maintain a good content to code ratio. By doing this you will also prevent an overly heavy web page; ensuring a file size that is ideal for search engine spiders to categorize the site.
Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) is an important tool to use in order to benefit Search Engine Optimization (SEO). CSS is used to refine a certain page in order to achieve a page that is spider friendly. Spider friendly page means a page that is created with maximized keywords making it easier for “web crawlers” to recognize and categorize them properly.
Websites designed with the use of CSS are ranked higher than table-based websites because of the following reasons:
1. CSS codes are more accessible because CSS codes are cleaner making them easily readable by search engine spiders.
2. CSS designed web pages load faster than table-based web pages because the code weight is low and lighter than table-based web pages.
3. When using CSS, you can put the most important content and links to the top of the file where “crawlers” can find these essential elements in a quick and easy manner. If you are an Internet Marketing Professional, you should be aware that search engines pay more attention to the text found on the top of the file rather than those located at the end of the file. These important texts are considered clues about the whole content of the website that we are promoting. Do you think it would be wise to put your clues on the end part of your web content?
If you are a wise webmaster you will get the clear and wide view that this article is pointing out - A clear and well presented website for search engine optimization.

So, you have a website. Tell me, do you even take a look at your traffic statistics everyday, to see if you’re getting enough attention from the surfer-public? If you do, you must have realized that a low site traffic can actually lead to lesser income. This means that if you don’t make people visit your site, your great products and services are left unnoticed in the shelves. In the long run, you won’t have enough money to cover for the domain registration, and even for the whole investment, itself. What happens then, is that you either drop your website and let all your efforts go to waste, or you may prevent this by paying attention to getting a good traffic statistics, as early as now.
Here are some simple ways to make people visit your site today, and often:
1. Swap links with another site. Many sites will also like to be noticed just like you do. And you can make the most out of this by swapping links with them. You post his banner in yours, and vice versa. This way, you are triggering an exchange of traffic. Also, give that you have a good relationship with your partner site, this banner will be placed there for as long as you need each other’s links.
2. Submit your site to AdWords. This is one of the most helpful ways to make people find their way into your site. When they enter into a search engine, a word that is mentioned in your web content, your site will appear in the results, making it possible for them to visit it, and if they like it, refer it or check on it again. However, not all sites can submit to Adwords, since they also have quality measures. Usually, you need a good site that has been linked many times to qualify into their listings.
3. Hire an Internet Marketing expert. These Internet Marketing experts have various tools and tactics to promote your website in the best ways possible. Many big and developing websites choose this undertaking because marketing can be a whole lot of work. At least, these marketing people know what they’re doing, and they do it well.
In this wide world we call the Internet, your website is just another one of its nooks and crannies that people might tend to overlook. Therefore, the main principle here, is to make your presence known!

The internet is made up of a sea of independently published content. If you have a couple of websites out there, you own a small percentage of the internet yourself. But, the more you own, the better.
How to generate more traffic?
If you research the top producing websites in the world, you’ll discover, it’s not by accident that they have a LARGE number of web pages, literally sometimes going into the thousands.
So why is this important?
Often there is a direct correlation with the volumes of traffic compared to the number of web pages one has.
This means, that a company or an individual who has hundreds to thousands of pages of content on the internet seems to generate more traffic. This may not always happen, but it does appear to be the case when you take a look at some of the most visited sites in the world.
Why is this?
Well, because of the way these many pages are linked to each other in one way or another, it creates a foot print on the internet, making it highly likely for someone searching for information in your area of expertise to stumble upon your websites. Every web page you publish on the internet is another opportunity for someone to find you. It’s really like a lottery. The more tickets you buy the better your chances are of winning. The more web pages you publish, the better the chances are of someone finding them.
Optimizing your content, will also contribute to moving you higher in the search engine rankings. Being on the first pages of google and yahoo gives you front line exposure attracting and generating more traffic again.
Most, if not all your web pages should have links, connecting them to other web pages you have created. This will get traffic moving to more of your pages on the internet as people click on links to take them to another page to find out more information.
The secret to owning more of the internet is having A LOT of web pages on the internet.
If you’re serious about doing business online and you want to generate more traffic, you absolutely need to be creating a lot of value based content for your websites on a regular basis.
Now, don’t go into a panic, saying you can’t or don’t want to write anything, because you can easily hire someone else to create your content for you. Many website owners hire writers to create content for them. You can go to places like Elance or Guru, just Google their names and you’ll discover a variety of options to choose from.
Why Generate More Traffic ??
All businesses are looking for more customers, prospects, leads, patients, clients, etc. By creating educational and information based websites, which generate more traffic, you are in a better position to attract already interested people in what you have to offer. Dealing with people who have a high level of interest already will increase your conversion rates substantially, as well as save you time.
How DO YOU create a lot of web pages out there to generate more traffic?
The most effective way is to formulate a “Content Creating Process”. You first have to start with knowing who your target market is. Knowing what to write, starts with knowing who you’re writing to.
Begin processing your content by breaking it down into several different departments. For example, title, concerns, needs, problems, likes, dislikes, goals, solutions, etc. Applying this method of creating a little content in each category and then bringing it all together makes it much easier to achieve your end goal, which is, a valuable piece of content ready for publishing.
Creating content is easy when you have a systematic formula to follow. Click here to get your content creating formula now and begin your journey to generating more traffic by owning more of the internet: http://successnetworkmarketing.squarespace.com/creating-content

In part one of this article we discussed what the long tail of SEO is. We also went over some of the seo challenges that you face doing seo for the long tail. Here are the next things to do.
Segmented SEO to target your sub-niche
Now that you have discovered where your visitors and coming from and where they are going on your web site you can begin to target them with search engine optimization. Now that you know the sub-niche you can better target them with the keyword terms and phrases that they not only used to visit your site but also do the research necessary to find more terms in that sub-niche.
Here is an example: (these are all fictitious web sites)
Through your Analytics you notice that visitor are coming to your site in the following ways:
- Using the keyword phrases
- designer dog clothes,
- hats for my dog,
- vest for my puppy
- They are coming from the web sites
- designerdog.com/summer-line.html,
- cooldoghats.com/custom-hats.html,
- puppyattire.com/vests/designer/disney/red-vest.html
You notice that most of your visitors are looking for some type of designer or custom dog clothing. When you do some additional research you will find that there are several sub-niches in the designer dog clothes niche.
- cheap designer dog clothes
- designer dog coats
- designer dog clothes UK (country specific)
Now that you have some phrases that consumers in the sub-niche use you can target those phrase specifically by adding content to your web site about that sub-niche. You can also start a PPC campaign to see how well those visitors convert into customers. You would give preference to higher converting keywords and phrases.
The biggest question now becomes is Segmented SEO worth the extra effort?
Targeting all of those low traffic phrases will eventually pay off buy when? How much will you have to spend to achieve the desired results?
With the efficiency that the search engines make information available and realizing that half of all the searches done on a daily basis are unique it will become necessary to do as much SEO for those “Long Tail” phrases as possible without taking away from your key traffic generating keywords. It will be an ongoing process but the main benefit is that as with most Long tail phrases achieving a high ranking isn’t that difficult.
Best Practices for Segmented SEO (SEO for the Long Tail)
- Use a good analytic program (Google Analytics is free to track your site visitors if you use adwords)
- Look for trends and patterns in your web site visitors
- Do additional keyword research on your target sub-niches
- Use PPC to discover the most profitable keyword phrase in your sub-niche
- Do SEO for your most profitable phrases first.
By Following these best practices you should be able to dominate your sub-niche and quickly gain a competitive advantage in your niche and larger target market.

Search Engine Marketing

Every webmaster’s dream is to have an enormous, steady traffic so they can profit from it. One of the traffic-generating techniques that is frequently used is Search Engine Optimization. It will not only connect your visitors to your site, but it will also pull up your ranking. If you’d like to succeed with SEO, you cannot afford to ignore these 6 key ways:
1. Never link your site to a blacklisted site. This usually happens when webmasters are looking for faster way to improve their link popularity. Instead of resorting to white hat techniques, they turn to link farming. When major search engines identify the link farm, all websites that links to it are penalized.
2. Keep your content professional. Major search engines refuse to rank web pages that talks about racism or those that are gender-biased. They also look down to those that dispute or challenge other person’s religion. So, to make sure that you’ll get indexed, stay away from content that can offend anybody.
3. Avoid cloaking. Cloaking is a process of presenting a webpage version to a human visitor then another completely different version to search engines to get better ranking. This can initially pull up your page ranking, but it can seriously hurt your standing in the long run once search engines identify your unacceptable strategy.
4. Build powerful links. Linking to relevant websites with higher page ranking than you are is a powerful SEO strategy. So, start looking for websites that share your topic and send email to their webmasters to request reciprocal linking or better yet, one quality inbound link.
5. Use relevant keywords throughout your website. To have your website indexed by search engines, sprinkle relevant keywords on your content. You can also use your keywords on articles titles and of course, on your domain name.
6. Submit your site to search engines. Make it easier for search engines to find your site by directly submitting it to them. Concentrate on search engines that can promise better traffic like MSN, Yahoo! And Google.
